Last Friday was Community Service Day at The Academy! Our students and teachers braved the cool, wet weather and spent the day helping others. Each year we dedicate a full day to honor The Academy’s founders and their commitment to both community and service. In Shelburne Falls our teams did spring yard clean up for Shelburne Senior Center clients, cleaned in Memorial Hall, and potted plants on the Bridge of Flowers. In Ashfield they did some work at two Trustees of Reservations properties, Bear Swamp and Bullitt Reservations. In Greenfield they helped make the Green River swimming area ready for the season, and in Hatfield the worked at ServiceNet’s Prospect Meadow Farm. A few joined the youth climate strike on the Town Common in Greenfield before joining us. Thanks to all of our host organizations and our students for engaging in a meaningful day!
