Aardvark Athletics: Week of October 27, 2017

On Monday, November 6, we will be celebrating the end of The Academy’s fall sports season. Feel free to join us from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM in the Sumner Recital Hall.

On Monday, the Boys JV soccer team ended their season with an impressive 4-3 win over Pine Cobble School. Raymond M had two unassisted first-half goals. Alec D scored in the second half and later apparently struck the ball at exactly the same time as his twin brother, Will D, for The Academy’s final goal. Alex T made eight saves in goal and the Aardvards had an impressive 26 shots on goal. The team finished the season with a 2-0-2 record.
In a rainy River Valley Athletic League quarterfinal game on Tuesday, the girls lost 2-0 to Four Rivers. Seniors Ella D, Nellie B-O, Emily C, and Lilah F all made great contributions in their final high school soccer game.
In their wet RVAL quarterfinal, the boys defeated the Dublin School 3-2 in the first minutes of the first overtime period. Hendrik P notched the winning goal, his second of the game, while Nat B-O also scored for Charlemont. Tucker Z-A assisted on all three goals. Jaromil T, Winston P, Sam R, and Liam F had strong games in defense in front of Kyle N’s impressive afternoon in goal.
On Wednesday, the mostly 7th and 8th grade mixed gender soccer team traveled to the Hartsbrook School and concluded their season with a 3-0 win. Atticus R had two goals and Celeste D added another on a nice assist from Charlie P.  Gwen H made several saves to earn her second straight shut-out. With so much young talent, the future looks bright for Aardvark soccer.
Cross-country is gearing up for the RVAL Championships on Wednesday, November 1.
