The 8th grade spent Wednesday 5/17 visiting the US District Court in Springfield, arranged by parent Steve Breslow, Assistant US Attorney. Steve also spent a considerable amount of time helping students to prepare for the trial. As a part of their study of American Government, they have been learning about the judicial system and got the opportunity to talk with attorneys, judges, clerks, an FBI agent, the US Marshall for Massachusetts and several members of the Marshall’s staff, before staging their Mock Trial in one of the courtrooms there. They also conducted the trial in school on Friday, when the Juniors served as jurors and the entire school community sat in the gallery to observe. Special thanks to Steve and his Department of Justice colleagues, and congratulations to the students for a job well done!
