Sports Recap, Week of September 24

The Boys JV 6th-10th grade soccer team defeated Eaglebrook on Monday by a score of 11-0. Anders G-B (3), Sam R (2), Raymond (2), Charlie, Atticus, Julien, and Gus scored, while Atticus also contributed a number of assists. Skye L and Sam B showed great positional awareness and nice passing, while Nick C had a strong game on defense. It was a consistent effort from the team, as they demonstrated great support for one another.

On a very wet Tuesday, the JV mixed gender soccer team came back from a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat Hartsbrook on their home field, 2-1. Atticus R scored an unassisted goal and Charlie P netted the game winner on a pass from Gus G. Skye L played a very strong game, as did the P-C sisters, and Gus G came oh-so-close to scoring on several occasions. The Aardvarks outshot the Tigers by a 4-1 margin. On Thursday, the team traveled to Hadley to play the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School and came home with their third straight victory, 2-1. Aardvark goals were scored by Atticus R (penalty kick) and Skye L (nicely assisted by both Nick F and Ruby C). Gus G and Anders G-B shared goalkeeping duties, combining for 13 saves. Newcomers Julien T C, Ellis W, Sam B, and Tayanna L have all improved weekly and contributed to a solid overall team effort. Charlemont had 11 shots on goal.

On Wednesday, the boys Varsity lost 4-3 to Four Rivers. Tucker ZA, Nat BO, and Nico V found the net, while Bennett B played well defensively.

The Academy Cross-Country team had its first RVAL race of the season on Wednesday at Northfield Mount Hermon. Will D led the way for AaC boys, coming in 5th out of 73 male runners. The girls team was led by Avery M, Aislyn J, and Paloma H-S who finished 4th, 6th, and 7th respectively out of 53 female runners.
