Sports Recap, Week of October 15

On Monday, the JV co-ed soccer team traveled to Williamstown to play Pine Cobble School and won their fourth straight game, 8-0.  Anders G-B netted the first three goals of the game.  Other scorers included Atticus R (two goals and an assist), Anna P-C (assisted by Julien T C), Ruby C, and Gus G (assisted by Sam B).  Julien T C played a strong game on offense and bravely agreed to tend the goal for the entire second half, while Sam B had his best performance of the season. The lopsided score allowed many Aardvarks to play unfamiliar positions and to work on their passing skills.

The Cross-Country team raced through sleet and rain on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. The boys finished 5th out of 6 teams, and were led by strong runs from Will D (4th), Eli C (13th), Tor O (17th), David A (27th), Izzy S (37th), and Rory S (38th). Aislyn J (3rd), Paloma HS (4th), and Katie T (25th) ran strong races for the girls.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated White Oak 7-3 on Wednesday behind great team play across the board. On Thursday, the boys played an excellent first half against a bigger and stronger Eagle Hill team, who scored three times late in the second half against the Aardvarks. Nat BO scored both Academy goals in the 4-2 loss, while Alex T had a strong game in goal and Tucker ZA and Bennet B anchored the defense.

Girls Varsity Soccer had another tough game for on Thursday with a 4-0 loss against Eagle Hill. Our offense pushed hard in the second half which allowed us to have several great shots on goal. Our defense was nearly unstoppable, as was our goalie. Unfortunately, the opposing team had some great kicks which snuck their way into the goal. Kudos to the team for their indomitable spirit!
