Students in the 9th grade Foundations in Art course studied a wide swath of propaganda posters from throughout history, as well as the contemporary artwork of Barbara Kruger. They noted the relationship between text and image, the use of starkly contrasting colors to grab viewers’ attention, and the added value of including facts to further drive home a point. The artists of the Class of 2021 then chose a current or ongoing event about which they feel strongly, researched it, designed a poster, created a linoleum block for a printed portion of their pieces, and assembled the final products. They are displayed in Hobbs Hall on the lower level.
