Gillett Griffin, 1928-2016

Gillett Griffin was a great friend of Academy founders Eric and Dianne Grinnell. Mr. Griffin passed away on June 9. Much of the original art and many artifacts displayed around the school were gifts from his extensive collection.

Our alumni/ae fondly remember his guest lectures during school assemblies and in the classroom, at which he would show and explain original works of art and archaeological relics, some from his own collection.  An expert on pre-Columbian art, Mr. Griffin served as curator of the Princeton University collections of both this work, and of graphic arts, and was an accomplished graphic artist and painter in his own right.
