The Academy to offer a full middle school in 2018

The Academy at Charlemont has expanded its Middle School to include grade 6, beginning next fall.  The Academy is known for its strong academic program, vibrant arts, and small, safe, nurturing environment.  Head of School Brian Bloomfield has announced the school’s intention to “extend the opportunity to be a part of this learning community” to students who will enter grade 6 in 2018.

Academy 6th graders will be able to take advantage of a range of intellectual, artistic, and civic engagement offerings, including Studio Block arts electives, a full academic program to include Life Science, Pre Algebra, English, Civics, and an introduction to Latin as the basis of their study of other languages, and the opportunity to serve on one of the six Leadership Councils at the school that focus on Community Service, Social Justice, Arts & Cultural Exchange, Honor, Sustainability, and Health and Wellness. They will participate in middle school athletic teams and school-wide community service projects.

An informational Open House for prospective students and families entering grades 6 through PG will be held on Sunday, December 10.  An information session about the Grade 6 program will be held on Sunday, January 21.  Both programs will take place on campus at The Academy (1359 Route 2 in Charlemont), and both begin at 1 PM. For more information visit www.charlemont.org, or call 413-339-4912 x 113
