Drama

The Drama Program at The Academy at Charlemont fosters creativity, collaboration, and confidence through theatrical performance and production. Open to students of all experience levels, our program provides opportunities to develop acting, technical, and storytelling skills while building a strong sense of community. Through rehearsals and performances, students learn dedication, teamwork, and the power of artistic expression. We strive to create an inclusive, supportive environment where every participant feels valued and encouraged to take creative risks. Our productions enrich the school community and highlight the importance of the performing arts in education.

The Academy’s Winter Drama Production is open to 8th-12th graders who are able to attend the after school rehearsals every Monday-Thursday on a weekly basis. Occasional absences are understandable, but our Winter Production does not accommodate students who are regularly unavailable one or more days per week. Families of students involved in the play contribute a small amount of volunteer time to help bring the production to life. The Winter Drama Season includes some weekend set-building days as well as mandatory attendance during Tech Week.

Middle School Drama

For middle school performers and our tech crew: During the spring semester, we offer a Studio Block for 6th-8th graders interested in putting on their own production. The show’s format, schedule, and performance details are finalized based on enrollment. This opportunity allows students to build performance skills, develop stage presence, and explore the many facets of theater production in a fun, supportive environment.
