There is a lot more hunger in the world than many of us realize. The truth is that people need food all over the world, from Western Massachusetts to Africa. We can help in numerous ways, and lots of organizations are doing their best to make it easy for us to do so.

- Nearly half a million people in Massachusetts are hungry. -The Food Bank of Western
Massachusetts is distributing 88% more food than they did four years
ago. Think about it- this is
both good and bad! |
-If all 33 million Americans
with food insecurity stood in line at a food pantry in New York City, the
line would reach LA and back twice. -7.3% of the households in the
US are at risk of hunger |
-More than 840 million people
in the world are malnourished.
More than 153 million of these people are under the age of five. -The amount of money that the
richest 1% of world makes each year equals what the poorest 57% make in a
year. -6 million children under the
age of 5 die each year as a result of hunger |
