Bus Schedules
The Academy at Charlemont has four bus routes serving the following communities and areas in between.
Colrain
Northampton - Williamsburg - Ashfield - Buckland
Amherst - South Deerfield - Conway
Cummington - Plainfield
Greenfield - Shelburne Falls - Charlemont (FRTA) This is a public bus route with additional connections to other towns.
Sports and Bus Schedules
Home Games - Students will usually be able to make the buses in time. We will hold the buses for 5-10 minutes, but it will make drop offs a little later. Because it is a public route we can not hold the FRTA for very long. Any student who regularly rides the FRTA may leave the game and hop on the bus if that is what a parent wishes. Otherwise, parents will need to make other arrangements.
Away Games - Parents should assume that students will miss the buses. Teams usually return between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m. from away games. These times are always estimates. Again, please check with individual coaches and the sports schedule if you have any questions about the return times of away games or call the office.
Winter Season - Winter transportation will vary throughout the season. Winter activities are optional but about 80% of our students participate in some winter activity. In general, afternoon transportation moves to 3:15 after fall sports until New Year's. Between New Year's and the winter drama production afternoon transportation moves to a 5:15 departure. Between the time of the drama production and spring break there is a hybrid of transportation and routes depending on family needs. We will keep families notified of changes as they are scheduled. For students who are not participating in a winter activity, parents may pick them up at 3:15 or the school provides a supervised study hall between 3:00 and 5:00pm on days that transportation is later. The FRTA runs at 3:15 and 5:15 daily.
